Social Media Networking - What Are the Advantages?

Categories: dating, fun stuff, social, social events | February 17th, 2009 | by Admin | no comments

By Amanda Isbitt

You’ve seen all the claims of people earning enormous incomes by working a few hours a day in an online business. Perhaps you’ve even attempted to get your own online business up and running only to find that you earned a few dollars, but nowhere near enough to make a full time living out of your efforts.

The advantages of social networking are that you can reach larger groups, there are many business groups on social networking sites which allow to network your business ideas to them too, as well as the general public.

Many new internet marketers spend a lot of money buying ebooks and online courses in an effort to learn the secrets of the internet big guns, only to find that the information they’ve bought isn’t sufficient to boost their online business profits the way they’d hoped. This is usually because so many of these gurus are only giving away the basic secrets to their success. They don’t always want you to know the full story.

Some people spend way too much money creating, designing, and launching expensive, professional looking websites, hoping to attract a few visitors to the site and make a few sales.

So how are these internet millionaires making so much profit?

One of the most under-utilized marketing tools on the internet is social media. Static web pages no longer have the same power with internet marketers as blogs and certain social media websites do, so the shift toward gearing your business to thrive and expand using social media platforms seems only logical.

By learning to harness the massive power of social media and blogging, you could easily increase your profits, drive huge amounts of traffic to your affiliate sales pages and be making massive sales easily.

By now, you should be thinking “Okay, great. I’ll start up a blog and create an account with Twitter and blast my affiliate links all over it.”

If you are thinking along those lines, you’re normal. Unfortunately, you’ll soon learn that social media doesn’t work that way. You’ll be labeled a spammer very quickly and ignored by most of the people you’re trying to attract.

You see, social media is about connecting with your visitors. You’re introducing a bit of yourself to them so they’re getting to know you and to trust you. You’re building a relationship with people who will soon identify your brand and your products as being quality items they’re happy to purchase from someone they’ve come to trust.

Imagine what you would do with your profits from your own online business once it’s consistently earning more every month. You wouldn’t need your day job any longer and you could spend more time doing the things you love most.

Life’s too short to waste it laboring in a job you despise. Kids grow up too quickly so that if you’re spending all of your time at your job, you’re going to miss your kids’ most important events. Obviously for all of us spending more time with our loved ones is a huge advantage and what most of us desire.

There’s an old saying: “There’s no point making a living if you’re not making a life.” I don’t know who originally said that, but it’s so true.

Perhaps it’s time for you to begin creating the life you want with the help of social networking.

Online Networking For Business Success

Categories: dating, fun stuff, social, social events | February 14th, 2009 | by Admin | no comments

By Chris Simpson

Business owners need to build trust with people in order to have sales. As a business owner you need to figure out ways to do this. There are many ways to make the trust building process easy and successful but one way is to do online networking.

When done properly, online networking will build traffic to your website which could in turn bring in more customers or clients. It’s also the best way to build trust with potential customers or clients.

When you do networking online it’s different than the way you do it at a live event. There are many different websites for online networking. Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter are three of the most popular sites right now but there are many more. You can do a search for social networking sites and find a number of other networking sites to use.

First thing you need to do with each of these sites and any others that you decide to use, is to set up a profile. Each one is different, but they are pretty easy to do. Just follow the steps and before long you will be ready to go. They usually will have a frequently asked questions section if you need help.

Now that your profile is up and running, you are ready to start connecting. Here is a brief description for each of the three listed above.

1. Facebook

Facebook is completely different than Twitter. You set up a profile, list your businesses and anything else you have going on. People can leave posts on your wall and so much more. Facebook also has groups that you can join. You will find groups that are specific to types of businesses, types of people, and more.

Facebook is a great way to connect with clients, customers, old friends, family, and others. You network by posting on walls and in groups.

2. LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a way to show people what you can do and for others to recommend you to people. Your profile contains your education, current and past positions you have held, links to business and blog sites, people you would recommend, people who would recommend you, and your friends.

LinkedIn is a great place to send potential clients if they are a little wary about using your services or purchasing from you. You can either send them directly to your site through a link or you can have a button listed on your site that will take them to your profile.

LinkedIn also has groups, but these are specifically for networking. You learn, help, and meet new people through these groups. You will find corporate groups, business groups, and type specific groups.

3. Twitter

Twitter is described as the online water cooler. You still set up a profile but rather than joining groups, you write short updates about what you’re doing or about your latest product. Twitter only allows message less than 140 characters so it’s very easy to write multiple tweets during the day to promote your business and to form relationships with other business owners.

Networking online is almost better than advertising your business in other ways. You will find people that are truly interested in your business and what you offer when you network the proper way. The three sites listed above are business oriented and will help you grow your business through networking.

Chris Simpson is dedicated to helping people find honest and legitimate work online. Our website offers free articles and resources to help those actively searching to learn how to make money on the internet.

Attacking Anxiety - Is My Anxiety Normal?

Categories: dating, fun stuff, social, social events | February 11th, 2009 | by Admin | no comments

By Ben Needles

You might wonder whether or not the anxiety you feel is normal. Here are some examples to help you understand everyday experiences of anxiety.

Q: Help! Im deathly afraid of heights! Is this normal?
A: Lots of people have things that make them afraid. If you are afraid of heights, its not considered to be a problem or abnormal unless it is interfering with your life. Consider the following example: your sisters wedding is going to be a mountainside resort with cliffside views, and youre considering not attending. In this situation, clearly, the anxiety is ruling your life. If this is the case for you, then your fears are taking over your life and you should seek help to learn to overcome your fear of heights.

Q: My friend suddenly passed away, and Im having nightmares and feeling anxious about it. Whats wrong with me?
A: Its not unusual to find yourself thinking about someone whom you have lost, or even to dream about them. The best thing to do is allow yourself to deal with the loss in your usual way of dealing with sad events. If you find that you continue to have nightmares, that your anxiety is increasing over time or interfering with your life, then you may want to consider seeking professional help.

Q: My significant other says that I worry too much. Is this true?
A: It depends. Everybody worries now and then. Everybody goes through situations, which might trigger more worry than usual. However, for some people, worry begins to interfere with their ability to think, to concentrate, to relax and/or to enjoy life. At the point that it begins to interfere with your everyday life, then you should consider seeking help.

Q: I have to give a presentation for my class, and Im feeling really anxious about talking in front of other people. What should I do?
A: Many people feel nervous when they have to give public presentations. As mentioned in the above example, its not considered to be a problem unless it is interfering with your life. Thus, if your hands are shaking a little and your voice isnt as steady as it could be during your presentation, but you get through your presentation, then you are probably just a bit nervous and your nerves will get better with more practice. Giving your presentation is the best thing that you can do to decrease your anxiety. If your anxiety is so intense that you skip the class on the day you are supposed to give the presentation, then you should seek professional help to work through your anxiety.

Q: I not only have trouble giving presentations, but I find that I cant really talk to people and I get really nervous when I try to make conversations with people.
A: Its okay to feel anxious when talking to new people or to people whom you want to impress. It becomes a problem when it starts to interfere with your ability to meet people and build relationships. People who experience this type of anxiety often feel alone because of fears of rejection or embarrassment. It may even be difficult to talk to a therapist. If your anxiety around other people is getting in the way of having the types of relationships you want, then you would likely benefit from professional help.

In the above examples, you can see that anxiety can be felt in many everyday situations. In fact, our bodies are built to be afraid and to feel anxiety, and these feelings are a way to protect our safety. However, this safety mechanism can become problematic when it not only protects, but becomes out of your control and gets in the way of what you want to do in life. In this case, you dont need to suffer - you should consider seeking professional help (e.g., seeing a therapist or counselor) from someone who can understand your situation.

Is AOL Trying to Offload Bebo Already?

Categories: dating, fun stuff, social, social events | February 11th, 2009 | by Admin | no comments

By Musa Aykac

Around Early 2008 AOL, one of the largest internet companies, where about to launch a bid to buy a popular social networking site Bebo, a few weeks later we saw the deal had been finalised for a whopping $850. But now just over 10 months on and rumours are circulating that being would like to sell Bebo for a lot less then they initially purchased it due to under performance.

To be honest it does not really come at too much as a surprise as AOL have not really developed Bebo over the past year, besides that Bebo only really had a hold on the UK market without even creating a dent in the American or global sector.

Let’s have a look at a bit of history regarding Bebo, the site was initially started in January 2008 at the infancy of the social networking bubble. The site is very similar to other social networking sites around but it caught everyone’s attention because social networking was still not recognised by the press and media. Bebo was very simple to use, but to be honest I do not think they had the backing and funding to develop as quickly and prominently as MySpace and Facebook.

The two big daddy social networking sites just grew and grew. I have literally seen this myself. I was an early adopter of Facebook and got in there quite quickly, this being said I did have a Bebo, but over the past few years I have seen people migrate over to Facebook from Bebo and I do not just mean one or two people, more like a handful.

So could Bebo in fact be losing its hold on the UK market as Facebook grows even further? Maybe this is the right time for AOL to sell up as in a few years Bebo could end up being only a memory in peoples mind. We have seen this happen all too often with websites as they come and go out of trends.

AOL have also recently changed there business model to more emphasis on niche editorial sites. So maybe Bebo just does not fit into their portfolio of sites which is said to increase to 100 this year. Whatever happens Bebo needs to be sold (if the rumours are true) to a company that can develop and maintain the site and propel it to a new audience and make it compete with the big guys.
